Alan Williams, supported by friends and the members of the Pembrokeshire Blue Tits kicked off a novel fundraising challenge on the 1st June at Newgale Beach with the first of 30 daily swims planned throughout the month of June in memory of Alan's late wife Branka.
He hopes to raise valuable funds for two local charities - Mental Health charity Get the Boys a Lift and our own charity which support patients going through cancer treatment.

In memory of Pilar Longworth, her husband Tim has donated a wonderful £2,250 to support the ongoing work of the CDU team at Withybush.
Responding to our thanks, he commented:
"This donation is the result of contributions which came in from 95 different donors - so that's a community response - it’s about lots of people remembering Pili and wanting to support our amazing CDU at Withybush as they help so many people to keep going. I can't take credit for their generosity - I just pointed them in the direction of the CDU Appeal".
What a wonderful thing to do for others. We will be forever grateful to everyone who made this happen.
And Why Fund Raise?
"From the first day I stepped into the Cancer Day Unit in Withybush Hospital I felt at ease. At such a terrifying and anxious time the staff made it all a whole lot easier .... they are like ‘guardian angels’ and I truly am so thankful to them all".
On behalf of the clinicians in PHODU and Trustees of the charity we would like to extend a big thankyou to everyone who helped to make this happen
Marie's Mission Raises An Incredible £10,000!
Super fundraiser Marie Tilley from Narberth and her team of "Marvels" need to be thanked "big time" for what they have achieved in reaching their goal.
An ex-patient of the Unit herself,Marie felt inspired to create Marie's Mission and set herself a target of raising £10,000 to support others going through cancer treatments in the county.
Friends and relatives who were inspired by her own story rallied behind her and helped support a number of social get togethers over a twelve month period which were bolstered by the creation and sale of a popular themed calendar in which Marie and her girlfriends appeared.

The Cornock Family Visit to the Unit to Make Their Donation
Planning the Family Challenge
Family and friends joined forces last year to honour a well known character Gwilym Cornock from the Pembrokeshire farming community. At the time Gwilym needed the support of the local Cancer Day Unit so the family decided to undertake the Welsh Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for the hospital.
The group, comprised of twenty five supporters of all ages set about the challenge in May 2018. After conquering the Welsh 3 Peaks in one day, the group were delighted to be met by Gwilym and his family on completion of the Pen y Fan climb.
Sadly, Gwilym lost his battle with cancer later in the year but the fundraising in his name has resulted in an incredible figure of £16,110 being raised to support other patients.
An amazing achievement!
This is the biggest single donation we have had so a big thank you to everyone involved and your supporters.
